Vic Baker joined AVN’s Advanced Software Technologies (AST) team in 2009 and has utilized his senior systems engineer skillsets in big data analytics (Hadoop, Spark, HUE, Yarn, Hive, Cloudera), operating systems (Linux, Windows), programming languages (JavaScript, Python), Databases (SQL, MySQL, NoSQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, CouchDB), and frameworks (Django, Bootstrap, Meteor) to create value for our customers in the areas of Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Interactive 3D/VR, Enterprise Web Development, Big Data Analytics, High-Performance Computing, Modeling and Simulation.

Prior to joining AVN, Vic co-founded IntelligentSimulations LLC, an NSF SBIR Phase I and II awarded company that develops medical simulation applications for a global healthcare services provider.

Vic taught computer graphics, game design, and virtual reality-based courses for 11 years in the WVU Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. While at WVU Vic held positions as Senior Visualization Scientist at the National Geospatial Development Center, Co-Director of the GeoVirtual Laboratory, and Associate Director of the WV Virtual Environments Laboratory. Vic is a named inventor on four U.S. patents involving GIS, serious gaming, and artificial intelligence.

During his time with AVN Vic has worked with a variety of customers including the Department of Energy (DoE), the Department of Defense (DoD), the National Guard (NG), and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
