On Wednesday, Oct. 12, Dr. Craig Friedrich will trace the history of nanotechnology, its techniques and applications, along with the potential for industrial growth through nanoscale advances and innovations in science. Friedrich is professor of mechanical engineering at Michigan Technological University.

Nanotechnology processes are characterized by the manipulation of matter on extremely small atomic and molecular scales, often applicable in fields such as medicine, biomaterials and electronics.

The presentation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express Civic Center, Charleston, W.Va. RSVP before Oct. 7, 4:00 p.m., by calling (800) 469-7224.

This debut series event is sponsored by the Robert. C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI) and the Center for Diagnostic Nanosystems at Marshall University.
