MATRIC today announced that Dr. Madan Bhasin, chief scientific advisor, has been recognized by the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) as a 2021 NAI Fellow. This prominent recognition honors individuals who “have demonstrated a highly prolific spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding inventions that have made a tangible impact on the quality of life, economic development, and welfare of society.”

Dr. Bhasin joined MATRIC in 2009 and has over 45 years of experience in the chemical industry. His primary expertise is in the area of heterogeneous catalysis, with a strong emphasis on surface science and the analytical technics involved in catalyst characterization. Dr. Bhasin was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2006, and he has 25 U.S. patents and 24 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He was named Honorary Visiting Professor to Cardiff University in 2012, where he has been working with Prof. Graham Hutchings and the Cardiff Catalysis Institute to start new research directions in hydrocarbon activation. Recently, he was appointed Adjunct Professor in Cain Department of Chemical Engineering, Louisiana State University. He earned a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, from Notre Dame University and a B.Sc. (Honors) from the University of Delhi.

He will be officially inducted at the Fellows Induction Ceremony to be held at the NAI Annual Meeting June 13-15, 2022, in Phoenix, Arizona.
