Jack DeverSo. Charleston, W.VA, December 3, 2015 – MATRIC (Mid-Atlantic Technology, Research & Innovation Center) today announced the appointment of Dr. John P. “Jack” Dever, as executive vice president and chief technology officer. Dever succeeds Parvez Wadia, Sc.D., who has been appointed vice president of strategic initiatives, effective January 1, 2016.

Dever, who holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame, will also join MATRIC’s Board of Directors. Dever joined MATRIC in 2011 as director of process development and process engineering. Prior to MATRIC, Jack held technology and techno-economic-chemical-design-technology-improvement roles of increasing responsibility for over 30 years at Union Carbide and Dow Chemical. Most notably, Jack was the Ethylene Oxide –Ethylene Glycol (EO-EG) global improvement leader after the merger of Union Carbide and Dow and was later director of technology development, leading the team that identified, validated and developed new industry-leading technology.

“Jack has been instrumental in leading MATRIC’s development and execution of process development and engineering for the last four years,” said Steve Hedrick, president and chief executive officer, MATRIC. “I am confident in his proven ability to lead our firm and lead our customers in order to continue to drive fast-paced and market-driven innovations.”

Wadia most recently served as executive vice president and chief technology officer, a role he held since 2004. Officially starting his new role in January, Wadia will remain on the board of directors and will work closely with Dever to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.

“Parvez has done a tremendous job leading our organization’s chemical, environmental and energy technologies,” said Hedrick. “And while he’s moving into a new role, we’re excited about the value he will continue to bring to MATRIC and to our global customer base.”
